This is the great lake the humans shipped their horses across when they first came to the forest. It's prefect for bathing in on hot days or just to relax and take a quick drink. The shore is a mere few metres of rock, seperating forest from the huge body of water that blocks the herds from the rest of the world. On bright mornings, the sun catches the water and it appears white it's so bright (hence the name..)
This is the main forest. The trees grow quite close together here so it's difficult to run faster than a quick trot. Also, it can get almost impossible to see in the night when the Sky Mother shuts her night eye completely.
Well, it's more like a steep hill leading to a little rocky outcrop than a mountain, but it looks over the entire north. It can be dangerous, though. Many horses have died from toppling over the edge whilst fighting or being careless during storms. -Claimed by Sherizar & Bailey-
Lightning Hill marks the boundary between forest and wilderness, north and south. The hills around are mainly shrub due to the intense wind here, but a single, tall pine tree stands, long dead, at the peak of Lightning Hill to mark the very centre of the lands. -Unclaimed-
The human's horses were set free here. It's a harsh stretch of land running for miles in every direction and even if it rains every day for months, nothing grows here but funny looking bushes and straw-like grass. Water can be found here and there if you paw at the ground enough. It takes a day or two to get from lightning hill to the open forest -Unclaimed-
Unlike in the north, the forests in the south are made up of mainly birch and ash trees. Also, you can gallop through them without getting snagged on branches or running into trees. It's very light here and a lot more spacious. But there isn't the same beauty here like in the main forest..
Despite the offputting name, the Black Bay tends to be peaceful and quite beautiful. The tide never reaches the cliff face, even in the harshest of storms. Set on the west coast, the Black Bay gives a perfect view of the moon practically every clear night.
The humans never invaded past this point. The river is pretty wide and about as deep from the floor to a small horse's withers. The current's strong most of the time, so it's generally dangerous for youths and ponies to cross, but it's the only way to the Foothills and Mountains. It's called the River Rosa because of the pink cherry blossoms that line its banks in spring.
More like mountains than hills, this is really the most southern place possible to live in. The hills are coated in scrubs and saplings that never seem to reach tree-hood. Although it's cold, it's a stunning place to be. -Claimed by Haruko-
This is the end of the horse's reign to the South. No horse has ever reached the other side of the Mountains and got back alive.. or been found. Maybe heaven on Earth is on the other side? Although harsh and cold, this place is considered sacred by the Sky believers as it's the closest point to the Sky Mother in the land.

The Legend
The humans came with their horses and stole the earth mother's children. When the land gave up and decayed the humans lost interest. They left, and into the harsh wilderness they set their once prized horses. The sky mother shot flashes of light down from the clouds to make fire and the fire washed away the bad. The remaining horses found wild partners, hidden in the foothills where the humans didn't reach, who taught them the ways of the sky mother. Many moons later, when the entire forest was green again, a few wandered back, to return to the reign of the earth mother, but others stayed, content with their newfound sky mother.
